Cetus3D launched a crowdfunding campaign in support of the eponymous 3D printer, which is compact in size, quiet, accurate and extremely low cost.
Cetus3D is a division of Tiertime, a renowned UP 3D printer brand. This time, Chinese developers offer a simple, minimalistic rail design at an exceptionally low price: first customers can purchase a 3D printer for just $ 199.
Despite the very compact design, the printer has a fairly large build area of 180x180x180 mm. If desired, you can order an enlarged version that can print models up to 300 mm high while maintaining the working area of the standard model. The upgrade cost is $ 130.
Officially, the printer only supports polylactide printing, but nothing prevents experimenting with other materials. It is worth considering that the printer does not have a closed case, and the platform is not equipped with a heating element, although the aluminum table itself is covered with a layer of special material for increased adhesion with PLA. The extruder is designed with ease of maintenance and nozzle varies in the diameter of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mm.
The software has so far been limited to a specially designed package compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and iOS, although in the future developers promise to provide compatibility with third-party slicers.
