The official opening of the Amur Tiger Cubs sculptural composition, made with the help of additive technologies, took place in Moscow. The ceremony is timed to coincide with the 172th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Community.

The authorship of the bronze sculptures belongs to the artist Peter Chegodaev from Vladivostok, who previously decorated his hometown with a monument to Vladimir Vysotsky, and this time wished to draw public attention to the problem of preserving the biosphere. The creation of the composition was not without 3D technology: the sculptor traveled to the reserve, where he sketched sketches of a tiger cub, then a digital 3D model was made from the sketches, which served as the basis for 3D printed prototypes. The prints were used in the production of molds for the production of finished bronze sculptures.

“The weight of one cub is about 150 kg, and the hedgehog is twenty kilos. Before coming up with a sketch, I watched a lot of films about these animals, but inspiration only came to me in the reserve - the very same place where famous friends, the Amur tiger and Timur the goat, live. Cupid just gave birth to a baby Sherkhan. I sketched the future sculpture from it. The bronze cubs are about six months old, they are still very small and are just getting to know the world. One of them is a boy, more impudent and active, and the second is a girl, carefully trying to pry on the hedgehog, ”the author says.

The composition was installed on Myasnitskaya Street, next to the headquarters of the Amur Tiger Conservation and Research Center.
