The Kickstarter site actually canceled the crowdfunding campaign in support of the NexD1 project, an affordable desktop equivalent of the Stratasys Objet industrial 3D printers using PolyJet inkjet technology.

The start of the campaign was more than successful: the developers requested $ 200,000 to start mass production and managed to collect more than half a million. The team’s statements were backed up by photographs of 3D-printed models and video clips, but problems began in early January. The first sign was the visit of one of the investors to the company’s office with the intention of seeing the prototype 3D printer with his own eyes. Although he managed to meet with the team and even see some components, they could not demonstrate a working model to him.

Ten days ago, another unpleasant episode occurred when a designer named Bathsheba Grossman recognized in two of the demonstrated examples her designs, “The Code Prize” and “Mosaic Egg”, sold on the Shapeways website, but never laid out in the public domain. In response, the team said that the replicas of the originals were designed by themselves, but investors' doubts were not dispelled. On the contrary, many began to refuse to support the project and to raise funds despite the fact that the developers posted a few more videos, supposedly demonstrating the operation of the device. In just a few days, the project lost about 200 thousand dollars, but the remaining funds would be quite enough for successful financing.

This afternoon, a few hours before the end of the campaign, the Kickstarter administration decided to freeze the process, which means the actual cancellation of the company, since the freezing process does not provide for the possibility of subsequent removal of the lock. Thus, the fundraising is officially failed, and the remaining amount will be returned to the participants.
