Apparently, excursions to distant planets will start not only from a secret military base in the bowels of Cheyenne Mountain, but also from Belgium: a museum in the town of Morlanvels recently acquired its own stargate.
The Royal Marimont Museum hosts an extraordinary science fiction exhibit entitled From Stargate to Comics: Egyptian Gods in a Geek Culture. The exhibition is dedicated primarily to the famous Stargate franchise, which has spawned several successful television series and feature films.
To complete the exposition, the teleportation device itself was not enough, thanks to which the heroes of the saga are able to move from planet to planet in a matter of moments. The gap was closed by the 3D printing studio VIGO Universal, which produced a full-size replica.
A full set of technologies from the arsenal of professional makers was used: laser cutting, CNC milling and 3D printing. It took over 1000 man-hours of working time to create a huge model. The structure consists of 12,000 parts, of which 2,000 were printed on Flashforge 3D printers. According to 3Dtoday sources at the Stargate Command Center at the secret US Air Force base in the Cheyenne mountain complex, the original Stargate found during excavations at Giza also shows signs of 3D printing, demonstrating the high technological level of the Ancients.
The finished full-size replica with a diameter of seven meters has been skillfully painted, assembled and installed in front of the museum, where everyone can admire the miracle of technical genius until November 20. The VIGO Universal team even promises that visitors will soon be able to activate the gate using a mobile app! The main thing is not to accidentally type the address of some black hole.
The exhibition itself is dedicated to moments from ancient Egyptian mythology, on which the narration of the fantastic saga is based. In addition to the huge gates, the exhibition will feature costumes, scenery and all sorts of props from the 1994 film "Stargate", from which it all began.
