Invent Prototyping is one of the first companies to offer rapid prototyping services to Russians. She has five professional 3D printers, the principle of which is built on different technologies, as well as a 3D scanner with an accuracy of +/- 7 microns. The company’s office is located in St. Petersburg, but satisfied customers are scattered throughout the world. So, recently one of these clients turned to Invent Prototyping specialists with a request to print a miniature ship for him. The task was not an easy one, but who would refuse such an interesting project?
“To accomplish this, we used the 3D Systems 3D ProJet 3500 HD Max printer, which is based on MutliJet simulation technology. Given that we set the layer thickness to 16 microns, it took 11 hours to make the model, ”says Valentina Kovaleva, Invent Prototyping employee.
The photographs show that the ship with a height of 15.3 mm transferred everything, even the tiniest details. Special thanks to the ProJet 3500 HD Max 3D printer for the highest print quality. Despite its miniature size, the boat turned out to be very durable, because it was printed from hard plastic, similar in properties to ABS. Using the example of this project, it becomes obvious that 3D printing technology continues to destroy the established canons, because with its help more and more tiny products are created. Of course, such a result cannot be achieved on a regular desktop FFF 3D printer.
