American architect and designer Behnaz Farahi created a cloak that changes shape in response to the look of a person of the opposite sex. It is reported by Motherboard with a link to the website of the designer.
The cape, which looks like a porcupine skin covered with needles, is made using 3D printing. Under the needles of the capes on the chest, a camera with a microcontroller is installed. The algorithm for controlling the cape using machine vision approximately determines the gender and age of the person who fell into the frame, as well as the direction of his gaze. If the system defines the person in the frame as an adult man who stares intently at his chest, the surface of the cape moves.
Previously, the designer has already worked with 3D printing in the design of clothing. In April, Benaz Farahi introduced a piece of clothing, complemented by many plastic plates connected to springs, which reacted to the movements of the model. Also in the designer’s collection there is a headgear that responds to brain activity by changing shape.
